Orthodox portfolio management has become too complex. Investment advisors are slicing and dicing client portfolios into far too many asset classes. The same is true for individual investors. Large cap growth, mid cap value, small cap growth, small cap value, international, real estate, etc. – where does it stop? For the past 70 years, the best investment vehicle has been the stock market. At Chartwell, we have made a conscious decision to focus on U. S. stocks of the best-run companies. Combined with selected mutual funds and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs), portfolios are balanced for various degrees of risk and return.

Most investors are governed by two basic emotions: fear and greed. We eliminate all subjective investment decisions by using proven long-term disciplined strategies based upon tested computer programs. Thoroughly researched strategies allow us to provide disciplined programs for individual portfolio management.

Of all the investment vehicles available, common stocks have outperformed bonds, gold, real estate and inflation. We believe large U.S. companies will continue to perform well into the next century and it will be these stocks that will demonstrate the greatest growth and stability for years to come. We believe portfolios, which include stocks of these great companies, will provide the greatest opportunities for growth and appreciation.
